Denise Smith
As the
Executive Director of Caritas, Denise has many roles within
the organization, with a primary objective of ensuring that
Caritas’ free programs for the seriously and terminally ill
continue to be available in our community for years to
come. In addition, Denise is responsible for agency
development, public and community awareness of Caritas’
programs and contribution to the community, procurement of
grants and funding, volunteer recruitment and training, and
reporting to the Board of Directors. Denise has 20 years
of professional, non-profit, administrative experience, and
has a B.S. in Business Management. She not only has served
in the capacity of Caritas’ administrator for the past ten
years, she also is a Caritas volunteer, and is a past
Caritas Client, having received assistance from Caritas
volunteers during her battle against breast cancer in 2000.
marie markowitz
As the Caritas Client and Volunteer Coordinator, Marie provides the services link between the Client and the Caritas Volunteer. She is responsible for handling all referrals from intake to discharge, which includes assessing the needs of potential clients on an individual basis. Marie matches volunteers with the clients and provides ongoing communication with the clients, family members and volunteers, while maintaining continued assessments of each case. She periodically reviews each case to ensure that agency goals and clients’ needs are being successfully met. Marie also serves as a Caritas Volunteer.
Renia Sanborn
Renia is the Executive Assistant to Denise, with her main responsibility her position of Caritas’ Full Charge Bookkeeper. Renia maintains all financial ledgers, quarterly reports, payroll and payables, and produces the agency financial statements utilized for Board of Director Meetings. Renia is also responsible for managing and executing a multitude of tasks which are required and instrumental to the successful administration of our annual fundraiser, Dancing ‘N Diamonds, and for general office management duties. Renia also serves as a Caritas Volunteer. |
